PM Modi hits out at opposition alliance on south tour

The prime minister's visit to the region drew sharp protests from groups opposing the CAB in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.

Further, Naidu was senior in embracing tomorrow those whom he would abuse today, Modi said. "He is going ahead with the bill against the will of indigenous people but we will not tolerate this", said AASU Adviser Samujjal Bhattacharrya.

Mr Modi's comments came after party president Rahul Gandhi recently upped the ante on the Rafale row by quoting a media report saying the PMO conducted "parallel" negotiations on the deal.

"The arrogance of Delhi (during the Congress rule) has always insulted the states".

Mr. Modi alleged Mr. Naidu was taking him on since the Centre had sought details of every paise given to Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing a massive rally here in north Karnataka and virtually launching his Lok Sabha campaign, Modi said there was not even a single day "when the country doesn't see the Natak of the government" as he took potshots at the ruling coalition over turmoil within it for the past few weeks.

Modi also said that Naidu had not initiated any new programmes for the poor, but was only putting his stamp on the NDA government's development schemes.

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Assam capital Guwahati on Friday evening amid tight security even as different agitating organisations waved black flags as the convoy passed from Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport to Raj Bhavan in the city.

The Telugu Desam Party had walked out the BJP-led NDA previous year protesting the "injustice" done to Andhra Pradesh after its bifurcation.

"It has been established again that Telugu people would teach a lesson to those who betrayed them", Naidu later told his party leaders.

All Assam Students' Union (Aasu) and KMSS activists led the anti-citizenship bill protests across Assam, burning effigies of Modi and waving black flags on Saturday.

The Chief Minister also condemned BJP leaders' complaint that the government obstructed people from attending the Guntur public meeting.

Commenting on the black balloon protests against him by TDP workers, Modi quipped he welcomed it recalling the tradition of smearing black to ward off evil designs.
