R Kelly pleads not guilty to sex assault charges, released on bail

Moments after R. Kelly pleaded not guilty to aggravated sexual abuse, the attorney for one of his accusers said there's more damning evidence against him.

Kelly's case was assigned to Cook County Associate Judge Lawrence Flood, who will preside over the trial. At Kelly's bond hearing Saturday, prosecutors alleged Kelly tried to force oral sex on his 24-year-old hairdresser in 2003 while he was free on bond on the then-pending child pornography charges. Because of this, he will continue to go back and forth between Cook County Jail and the courthouse, with his next court hearing set for March 22.

After spending the weekend in jail on sexual-abuse charges, R. Kelly has posted $100,000 in bail and was released late this afternoon. Greenberg did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday.

This is a developing story.

"Unfortunately, the state's attorney has now succumbed to public pressure", Greenberg continued.

According to reports, a 47-year-old woman was the one to post the bond in Kelly's case, describing herself as a "friend" of his in court documents obtained by multiple outlets.

A 6-part Lifetime documentary called "Surviving R. Kelly" recently catapulted the singer back into the spotlight. Avenatti says there is a third alleged sex tape of Kelly and an underage girl.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, several female fans sat on the hood of a auto that was parked next to Kelly's van.

Kelly faced similar charges in 2008 but was aquitted.

A 16-year-old girl who attended Kelly's child pornography trial in 2008 got his autograph after a court session. "It leaves no question as to Mr. Kelly's guilt".

In the days before Kelly's arrest, there were rumors that authorities had possession of a new tape showing the singer performing illegal sexual activities with an underage girl.

Telling press, Kelly 'does not have to pay the child support before getting out'. The documents show Robert Kelly needed to move out on or before January 21, but Kelly was still at the studio minutes before he turned himself in to police on Friday night.

Greenberg said on Sunday that co-ordination of the bail payment is complicated.

"He's a rock star".

Previously, Greenberg claimed his client denies any wrongdoing.

If convicted, Kelly could be sentenced to three to seven years in prison for each of the accusations.

The new tape reportedly shows Kelly coaching the girl through sexual acts and allegedly shows the singer having anal sex with the minor and at one point even choking her. Probation is also an option.
