Super Bowl LIII at 10-Year Low in Early Numbers

Super Bowl LIII at 10-Year Low in Early Numbers

The dust has barely settled over Super Bowl LIII, but bookmakers are already looking ahead.

So why wasn't former SC football star Stephon Gilmore the MVP of Super Bowl LIII on Sunday?

In a game that was the polar opposite of Super Bowl LII, the Patriots prevailed 13-3 over the Los Angeles Rams in a defensive battle that saw the teams knotted at three points apiece in the fourth quarter.

New England Patriots' Sony Michel dives for the only touchdown in the Super Bowl. There are a lot of them, and For The Win writer Steven Ruiz shared one on Twitter.

"Oh you don't say?" said another befuddled colleague. Patriots QB Tom Brady became the first player to ever win six Super Bowls in what was the lowest scoring Super Bowl of all time. But on Sunday, Jared Goff, the 24-year-old Rams quarterback, looked lost.

"It's sweet", said Belichick.

Until the final few minutes, the most spectacular moment of an uninspiring contest came when the $1.6 billion Mercedes-Benz Stadium's ocular eight-pedal retractable roof opened to a massive roar.

The Rams high-powered offense, which averaged almost 33 points a game during the regular season, failed to fire and managed just 57 total yards and two first downs in the first half and 260 for the game.
