Canada bans Boeing 737 Max 8 planes from airspace

A new SilkAir Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft is seen at Singapore's Changi International Airport.

Kenya Airways will consider switching to Airbus or could opt to take more of the older 737-800 version of the Boeing jet, which doesn't feature the suspect system, Chairman Michael Joseph said in an email, without ruling out sticking with the Max. Trump's move came as his administration came under mounting pressure to remove the planes from service, after safety inspectors said a software glitch was likely behind Sunday's crash, as well as the crash of a Lion Air flight of the same plane type last October that killed 189 people in Indonesia.

Garneau said the tracking data showed each of the planes that crashed seemed to be on a roller-coaster ride after it took off, rather than making a steady ascent into the sky, before diving at the ground.

"The angle of attack sensor was faulty on the Indonesian flight, and essentially gave the impression that the nose was too high", said Garneau, who is a former astronaut.

"We make our own decisions in Canada and occasionally those decisions may be different from our colleagues south of the border", Garneau said.

Speaking on Wednesday, March 13, in a reaction to the plane crash disaster involving Ethiopian Boeing jet, the carrier spokeswoman Tonje Naess said the Oslo-based airline "should not have any financial burden for a brand new aircraft that will not to be used, " Fox News reports.

"For a week or two, it will be bedlam and chaos", said Marvin Ryder, an assistant professor of marketing at McMaster University. He said pilots have been given additional training and flight procedures on what they have to do if a similar situation occured. The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board sent three investigators to help.

"Big families, a lot of people and the full Israeli nation is waiting for these remains, and we will not go out of Ethiopia until we find the remains to bury them", Biton said.

The 737 Max is Boeing's largest contributor of product revenue and earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT), according to Goldman Sachs Group Inc. analyst Noah Poponak. "The investigation team will decide where", the spokesman told Reuters.

He says that affects airlines like Air Canada, WestJet and Sunwing, and also has implications for airlines from outside the country.

"We are working to rebook impacted customers as soon as possible but given the magnitude of our 737 Max operations, which on average carry 9,000 to 12,000 customers per day, customers can expect delays in rebooking and in reaching Air Canada call centres and we appreciate our customers' patience".

Transport Minister Marc Garneau, announcing the Canadian ban in Ottawa Wednesday morning, said politics didn't play into his decision, nor was it based on American thinking. They are working very, very hard right now. The plane's passengers included nine Ethiopians, in addition to Ethiopian crew.
