Ex-Dolphin Danny Amendola to sign with Lions, according to reports

ESPN previously predicted that Flowers would get something in the range of a five-year deal for $85 million with $35 million guaranteed. The deal, which reunites Flowers with coach Matt Patricia, is expected to be worth more than $16 or $17 million per season.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Flowers plans to sign with the Lions at the start of National Football League free agency on Wednesday.

Flowers was a candidate to be franchise tagged by the Patriots but the team made a decision to let him him the market to see what teams are willing to offer him.

Flowers helped the Patriots win Super Bowl LIII this past season, 13-3, over the Los Angeles Rams.

The NFL's legal tampering window opened on Monday at noon, allowing teams to contract free agents to build the frameworks of deals.

The Lions kicked off the day by coming to terms with Danny Amendola, followed by a reported four-year agreement with cornerback Justin Coleman.

The 25-year-old defender spent the last two seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, thriving in slot coverage. Detroit on Monday inked ex-Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Jesse James, according to the NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. His total catches were down but his 14.1 yards per reception were a career high.
