Kate's first official royal portrait hangs in the National Portrait Gallery, and she has also contributed to an exhibition, "Victorian Giants: The Birth of Art Photography", where she wrote the programme's foreword and captions for the photos on display.

Just a day after joining husband Prince William - along with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex - for Commonwealth Day festivities, Middleton, 37, took a solo trip to South London to visit the Henry Fawcett Children's Centre, according to Kensington Palace.

The duchess is mother to three children: Prince George, who is 5 years old; Princess Charlotte at 3; and Prince Louis, who turns 1 next month.

Back then, Kate teamed the coat with a pillbox hat, but this time around, it was her sister-in-law Meghan Markle who opted for that style, while Kate picked a smaller hat instead.

The royals were on a walkabout when a fan in the crowd asked for an update on Prince Louis.

'She teaches me everything, ' she told Harper's Bazaar late a year ago.

"We do see a very polished and practiced public appearance, but it's what we don't see that might be more telling".

In December previous year, Kate told royal fans while visiting the RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus that Prince Louis was already practising one very important royal duty. Follow Yahoo Lifestyle on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Ms James said there were "authentic" signs of affection during their meeting ahead of the Commonwealth Day service.
