'Weekend Update' Does Best Mashup Ever Of Donald Trump's Zany CPAC Speech

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler told ABC News that on Monday his panel would be issuing requests for documents to 60 people, "to begin the investigations to present the case to the American people about obstruction of justice, corruption and abuse of power". Schiff said the investigation will include "the scope and scale" of Russian intervention in the 2016 presidential election, the "extent of any links and/or coordination" between Russians and Trump's associates, whether foreign actors have sought to hold leverage over Trump or his family and associates, and whether anyone has sought to obstruct any of the relevant investigations.

Many observers believe, however, his biggest legal exposure would come with the various federal and state-level investigations into his finances and the running of his charity foundation and business.

Now that President Donald Trump is heading into a new period of intensified scrutiny from congressional Democrats, even as the special counsel's investigation approaches its climax, Trump's political health - and, possibly, his survival as well - depend more than ever on the massive propaganda apparatus that is busily toiling away on his behalf.

The White House is also smarting from explosive testimony on Capitol Hill by Trump's former lawyer and fixer on Wednesday that branded him a criminal and a racist.

"Robert Mueller never received a vote, and neither did the person that appointed him", Trump said, referring to the unelected bureaucrats investigating him.

The last big investigation involving a USA president - the Ken Starr probe into the Whitewater scandal and former President Bill Clinton's relationship with Monica Lewinsky - differed in that it was carried out by an independent counsel, which unlike a special counsel is not part of the Justice Department.

Trump said Comey was Mueller's "best friend", and implied Comey should have been fired before Trump took office.

Last week, Representative Maxine Waters, a California Democrat who chairs the House Committee on Financial Services, said she wants to explore the president's defunct non-profit, the Trump Foundation, over suspicions of tax evasion. "We don't have the facts yet, but we're going to initiate proper investigations". The president also has accused Mueller of having conflicts of interests for his close history with people such as former FBI Director James Comey.

"I think Congressman Nadler made a decision to impeach the president the day the president won the election", McCarthy said.

"I'm not sure how to put it any clearer than I said it before - we have no factual evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia", Burr stated.

In his public testimony before the House Oversight and Reform Committee, Mr Cohen called the president a "con man" and a "cheat" and gave Democrats several new leads for inquiry.

"I think Mueller has planned for his own obsolescence", said Andrew Herman, a Washington-based lawyer who has been closely following the special counsel's 22-month-old investigation. Democrats are harassing the President to distract from their radical agenda of making America a socialist country, killing babies after they're born, and pushing a "green new deal'" that would destroy jobs and bankrupt America.

"These allegations, if true, raise profound national security, counterintelligence, and foreign policy concerns, especially in light of Russia's ongoing active measures campaign to improperly influence American elections", the chairmen wrote. The letter includes questions that look at possible corrupt practices, obstruction of justice, hush-money payments to women, collusion with Russian Federation during the 2016 elections and allegations of the President abusing his office and using it for personal gain. And you know the lovely thing: no collusion. "Free speech", said Trump.
